Strings below the Planck Scale

We show that, for a class of critical strings in R × S 1-target space, the description of string theory given by its field content (analog model) breaks down when the radius of S 1 decreases below R 0 = √ α ′ , the self-dual point of the partition function Z(R). We find that Z(R) has a soft singularity at R 0 (a finite jump in the first derivative of Z).

Two-pearl Strings: Feynman’s Oscillators

String models are designed to provide a covariant description of internal space-time structure of relativistic particles. The string is a limiting case of a series of massive beads like a pearl necklace. In the limit of infinite-number of zero-mass beads, it becomes a field-theoretic string. Another interesting limit is to keep only two pearls by eliminating all others, resulting in a harmonic ...

On Maximal-acceleration , Strings and the Group of Minimal Planck-area Relativity Theory

Recently we have presented a new physical model that links the maximum speed of light with the minimal Planck scale into a maximal-acceleration Relativity principle in phase spaces . The maximal proper-acceleration bound is a = c/Λ where Λ is the Planck scale. The group transformation laws of this Maximal-acceleration Relativity theory under velocity and acceleration boosts are analyzed in full...

Stochastic dynamics of uncoupled neural oscillators: Fokker-Planck studies with the finite element method.

We have investigated the effect of the phase response curve on the dynamics of oscillators driven by noise in two limit cases that are especially relevant for neuroscience. Using the finite element method to solve the Fokker-Planck equation we have studied (i) the impact of noise on the regularity of the oscillations quantified as the coefficient of variation, (ii) stochastic synchronization of...
